That Day Herod and Pilate Became Friends

April 14, 2008, 8:28 am

Herod and Pilate tolerated each other in order to protect their own interests, but on the day that Jesus was arrayed before Pilate by the religious leaders, Pilate on discovering that Jesus was from Galilee (though of course he was really from Bethlehem), ordered that he be taken to Herod for judgment. From that day they became friends. I was reminded about this bizarre happening today whilst reading the news about Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton speaking at a forum on faith and politics in Pennsylvania.

There is no love lost between the two Democratic candidates, and yet when it comes to the issue of abortion they appear to agree on the issue. What is most striking about the choice of words they both use, is that they refer to the unborn child not as a fetus or an embryo but as a ‘potential life’, and that the ‘potential’ for life begins at conception. Obama in his reply to the forum said that he didn’t know whether life begins at conception or not, it is not something that he has come to a firm resolution on. Incredible words from a man who in less than a year could lead one of the the most influential nation on earth and supposed beacon to the rest of the world on how a country should run.

Britain can’t point the finger at America over abortion, we have a debate coming up in the House of Commons whether in light of technological and medical developments the 24 week abortion limit should be reduced. A report was issued last week that there is no reason to because even though the survivability of post 24 week premature births has increased significantly, those born at 23 weeks gestation, a full 40% still die. THAT MEANS THAT 60% LIVE, DOESN’T IT?

Britain and the USA are both nations of murderers. In Britain we don’t believe in capital punishment, i.e.. punishing those who have been found guilty of taking another’s life, no we just kill innocent children in the name of convenience and justify it on the basis that a woman has a right to do what she will with her own body. That sounds good, but it isn’t her body that is being destroyed, it’s the life within her, and believe me Hillary and Barack it’s more than just potential it’s actual.

The Community over the Individual

May 24, 2007, 12:38 am

Ruth Kelly, that fast laneing, high flying Communities Secretary whose job was created and she was fitted into it by no less than Mr Tony Blair, Prime Minister of Great Britain 1997 - 2007.

Have you noticed that there is no ‘Individual’s Secretary’ or Minister for the British Subject (a.k.a. citizen)? Professor A.V. Dicey wrote back in 1885 that the primary function of government should be to protect the freedom and security of individuals and provide a legal framework based on private property within which personal and economic freedom could grow. This presupposes a society based upon dealings between equals with the government in the background.

Was Hitler right in wanting to wipe the Jews off the face of the earth?

Firstly, let me start this blog by telling you that I am not Jewish, I wouldn’t be ashamed of being so, I’m just not. During past conversations I have said many times that it would be great to be a ‘black Jew’; if that was my heritage, I would have a better understanding of the Old Testament, how to be more successful in business and also possess natural rhythm, (which my family are always telling me I lack.)

What was William Wilberforce’s force?

February 22, 2007, 12:43 am
evolution cartoon
During recent weeks the BBC have been reporting almost daily that 2007 is the anniversary of slavery having being abolished in Britain and that the ‘main man’ behind the campaign to rid our country of the curse of trading in human misery was William Wilberforce.

Tony Blair has already apologised for Britain’s shameful past in slaving and Wilberforce is being heralded as a hero for his unstinting work in persuading Parliament that there were better ways to bouy up the economy than in buying and selling human beings.

No More Sex Education Please - We’re British

February 12, 2007, 11:52 am
abortion booklet

“Abortion: Just so you know” is the title of a booklet published by the FPA, (formerly known as the Family Planning Association), which is designed to inform 12, (yes twelve), year olds and older about current UK abortion law, attitudes towards abortion, abortion procedures, and sources of further information and advice.

Why should a 12 year old need to know the ins and outs of abortion? Is sex not illegal for children under 16 in Britain? Yet the British government faced with the two fold crises of epidemics of teen pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases gives its support to the work of organisations like the FPA and British Pregnancy Advisory Service by granting them charitable status.

What sort of government is it which both actively and passively supports efforts to deprave the minds of our children?

If Cameron becomes PM, can we expect mercy to triumph over judgment for reformed youngsters like him?

It has been widely reported that David Cameron smoked Cannabis whilst at Eton College 15 years ago.

He doesn’t deny the allegations but is saying that his private past should have nothing to do with his eligibility to run the Conservative party and possibly the country.

Reader - You are Truly Amazing!

Netruvian Man

If you ever feel negative about yourself and doubt your worth then I would ask you to take a few minutes to meditate on the following scientific facts and then see if you still feel bad about yourself.-

50,000 of the cells in your body will die and be replaced with new cells, whilst you have read this sentence!

In one hour, your heart works hard enough to produce the equivalent energy to raise almost 1 ton of weight 1 yard (1 metre) off the ground.

Richard Branson and Al Gore - Reformed characters or Political Expedients?

February 9, 2007, 11:24 pm
Al Gore at NASA

Following on from my blog entry earlier today I was mulling over the two individuals who made the rather generous offer to give$25 Million dollars to the person who proposes the best way to rid the planet of Carbon Dioxide.

Firstly there is Richard Branson, British business entrepreneur for whom this seems rather an odd choice of project, at least at face value. He owns a fleet of gas guzzling, atmospheric polluting, carbon dioxide generating long haul aircraft, he also owns a railway company which mainly utilises diesel engine powered trains

Win $25 Million dollars by simply coming up with the best idea for reducing Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere.

, 2:38 pm

Amazon Rainforest

Business Entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson and US Vice President Al Gore have launched a competition which has a $25 Million prize for the ‘lucky’ winner.
All you have to do to win this small fortune, (by modern standards), is to come up with the best idea for removing ’significant amounts’ of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere. Significant in this context is about 1 billion tons per year.

Terror - Free Oil

Teror Free Oil

After a day of wall to wall news about climate change and how it’s now ‘very’ likely that it has been caused by human activity (very in this context apparently means over 90%), I was brought to my senses this evening when I read a news article about an organisation in America called Terror - Free Oil

Whose interest does Tony Blair’s government really seek to serve?

January 26, 2007, 11:28 am

Parliament PicnicTony Blair famously stated after winning the 2005 general election with a much reduced majority that he recognised that the electorate had spoken through the ballot box and that it was time for New Labour to listen far more intently to the views of the British people.

Well apart from the record numbers who are emigrating abroad to escape totalitarianism, the people haven’t gone away. In the meantime nobody from the government has asked me or anyone I know about my views.

Will laws favouring sodomy over Christianity bring ‘New Labour’ to its knees?

January 25, 2007, 11:25 am

As the debate rages on between those who support sodomy as a lifestyle versus those who are opposed on grounds of conscience - predicated upon their religious faith; there appear to me more and more views being put forth that there can be no exceptions made to faith groups allowing them to opt out of certain aspects of the recently introduced ‘discrimination’ legislation with regard to sexual orientation. “After all”, the proponents would assert, “it is a matter of law that we are considering”. The suggestion being, that the law is inviolably set in stone and therefore cannot be altered.

Sentenced to 18 months in prison but received a death sentence instead.

, 1:07 am

Just before noon today I received a call from the Governor of Winchester Prison informing me that my friend Albert George Axton had tragically died of a heart attack this morning and that the chaplain of the prison had suggested that the Governor contact me to ask if I could provide support to George’s widow and meet him to break the tragic news to her. Of course I immediately dropped what I was doing and arranged to meet him later in the day.

Why are English prisons full to capacity?

January 24, 2007, 7:22 pm

Since 1997 and the coming to power of New Labour, the rhetoric about “being tough on crime and the causes of crime” has been spewing endlessly out of the Whitehall press office. I believe that it was Jack Straw who famously coined this phrase originally, but if it’s not him saying it, then at least in principle it’s being bandied around by Tony Blair or one of his many Home Secretary’s, Blunkett, Clarke and most recently John Reid.

Anglican Bishops should doff their mitres out of respect for Roman Catholic cardinals

January 23, 2007, 4:51 pm

Since the time of Henry VIII Britain has not been too well disposed towards the Roman Catholic Church; admittedly today, an adherent to Roman Catholicism is unlikely to be exiled or put to death for his or her allegiance to the Pontiff; nevertheless, the British Constitution stills forbids our sovereign to marry a Roman Catholic, (Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson serve as a case in point).

Big Brother - Social Re-engineering at its Worst

January 21, 2007, 11:22 pm

We’ve probably all heard the argument that if you want to understand people then you need to do the things they do so that you can comprehend their mind-set. Apparently over 7 million people watched Celebrity Big Brother yesterday evening the time when Jade Goody was voted off the program; the media made her eviction a clear indication of the public disapproval of racist remarks she made earlier in the week.

Blogging - The Challenges

January 19, 2007, 11:20 am

It’s a great challenge setting up your first blog; the sense of excitement at becoming your own author and publisher as well as having sole responsibility for the marketing of your product is tangible.

However, in the same way that people aren’t interested in reading yesterday’s - or even more so, last week’s newspapers, it seems that the life expectancy of a blog entry is in the same way pretty short. Search engines seem to have a definite bias in favour of regularly updated blogs. Until yours develops a regular following and is bookmarked, (putting you under more pressure to update it daily), we need the likes of Google to announce to the world that we’re even out there.

Writer’s un-block

January 17, 2007, 12:36 pm

Reading today’s news, looking behind the headlines and discerning the efforts which are being made in Britain today by those who yield the power to impose more and more restrictions and ungodly legislation on Her Majesty’s subjects really arouses my passions to speak out and expose the lies and hypocrisy that blight this once great nation of Britain.

The problem is that there is so much to write I am in danger of becoming swamped by it. So I’m going to step back and calmly meditate on those things which are good, peacable, pure, easily to be entreated etc. I might even come back to the other stuff later, so watch this space.
