It has been widely reported that David Cameron smoked Cannabis whilst at Eton College 15 years ago.

He doesn’t deny the allegations but is saying that his private past should have nothing to do with his eligibility to run the Conservative party and possibly the country.

I am not too concerned if Mr Cameron’s moral weakness as a youngster led him to commit the crime of indulging in illegal consumption of cannabis, after all. “He who is without sin let him cast the first stone.” I certainly can’t.

However, what I would expect to hear from Conservative Central Office in the very near future, is a statement that the Tory party manifesto will include a bill which if successful in becoming law will allow other members of the British public who themselves have committed minor crimes as youngstrers and have since gone straight that an amendment to the Rehabilitation of Offenders

4 be made which would allow them to never have to mention their previous offences, once spent, even if they are applying for employment in a job which is at present exempt from them not disclosing their past.

After all it’s a bit rich to allow an ex Etonian, ex drug user who may in the not too distant future have the awesome privilege to lead the 4th richest nation on the planet whilst other people who have committed the same offence or crimes of similar severity to be disadvantaged for the rest of their lives. Don’t you think?
