If you can’t beat them then join them

Liberal democracy is all about governance based on the view and aspirations of the majority of voters isn’t it? That sounds quite comical in a nation where the incumbent socialist government for the last 12 years has consistently changed the democratic landscape to the extent that unless you are affiliated with a minority you seem to have no representation or voice whatsoever.

I have to complement the ‘gay’ lobby for their consummate skill in responding with absolute ferocity to anything that they deem to be ‘homophobic’. Bit of a strange term ‘homophobic’ don’t you think? Not really, not today, nopt anymore  – especially if you are wanting to see your children raised in a society where the norms of sexuality are taught to children. In that case you should be very, very afraid of the homosexual lobby)

Anyway, I digress. The LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender)  lobby never miss an opportunity to vociferously and militantly complain about any statement, or action which they deem to be harmful to their cause.

Take for example BBC’s Radio 4’s Thought for the Day given by Anne Atkins some years ago; the number of complaints received by the Beeb after her informative 3 minute viewpoint on homosexuality was unprecedented at the time. I suspect that the gay lobby thought that that their vociferous whinging  would have Mrs Atkins removed from the list of approved contributors to this most hallowed of airtime slots. In this case it totally backfired and since that time Atkins  has made dozens more extremely poignant and excellent controversial contributions to what in her absence is so often  a load of meaningless, pusillanimous,  humanist drivel.

Anyway, Christian believers are not the best bunch for complaining when they don’t get their ‘rights’ met. One very good reason is that in the same way that Jesus didn’t try and defend his corner when arrayed before Pontius Pilate prior to his crucifixion, those who believe the teachings of the New Testament also don’t believe that as Christians we should seek  ‘human rights’ on Earth as our citizenship is in Heaven.

In fact we are promised persecution by Jesus.

John 15:20

20 Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.

This of course prompts the all important question. Why are most Christians  (Stephen Green of www.christianvoice.org.uk excepted), co-existing alongside their  unbelieving counterparts in Western society without any ‘discomfort’ at all?  I believe the answer to be simple; instead of the church militant as in Africa for instance, we have a form of social Christianity taught from the pulpits of Britain which says that to win people for Jesus we should be nice people and then they will want to be like us. Jesus on the other hand said

John 15:18

18 “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.

Now before you fascist groups or law enforcement agencies jump on my case and either want to sign me up to join your cause or charge me with incitment to hatred against some group or other let me remind you that the militancy of the Christian believer is manifested in the following ways:-

  • Love your enemies
  • Do good to those who hate you
  • Turn the other cheek
  • Submit to those in authority (except when they are demanding you defile your conscience, and only dissent on those particular issues of consicence)
  • Pay your taxes
  • Don’t defraud your neighbour
  • Overcome evil with good
  • Do to others what you would have them do unto you.
