That Day Herod and Pilate Became Friends

Herod and Pilate tolerated each other in order to protect their own interests, but on the day that Jesus was arrayed before Pilate by the religious leaders, Pilate on discovering that Jesus was from Galilee (though of course he was really from Bethlehem), ordered that he be taken to Herod for judgment. From that day they became friends. I was reminded about this bizarre happening today whilst reading the news about Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton speaking at a forum on faith and politics in Pennsylvania.

There is no love lost between the two Democratic candidates, and yet when it comes to the issue of abortion they appear to agree on the issue. What is most striking about the choice of words they both use, is that they refer to the unborn child not as a fetus or an embryo but as a ‘potential life’, and that the ‘potential’ for life begins at conception. Obama in his reply to the forum said that he didn’t know whether life begins at conception or not, it is not something that he has come to a firm resolution on. Incredible words from a man who in less than a year could lead one of the the most influential nation on earth and supposed beacon to the rest of the world on how a country should run.

Britain can’t point the finger at America over abortion, we have a debate coming up in the House of Commons whether in light of technological and medical developments the 24 week abortion limit should be reduced. A report was issued last week that there is no reason to because even though the survivability of post 24 week premature births has increased significantly, those born at 23 weeks gestation, a full 40% still die. THAT MEANS THAT 60% LIVE, DOESN’T IT?

Britain and the USA are both nations of murderers. In Britain we don’t believe in capital punishment, i.e.. punishing those who have been found guilty of taking another’s life, no we just kill innocent children in the name of convenience and justify it on the basis that a woman has a right to do what she will with her own body. That sounds good, but it isn’t her body that is being destroyed, it’s the life within her, and believe me Hillary and Barack it’s more than just potential it’s actual.
